Hugh Hoikwang Kim

Hugh Hoikwang Kim is an Associate Professor of Finance at the University of South Carolina's Darla Moore School of Business. His research examines financial intermediation, corporate finance, and household financial decision-making with applications to banking stability and investment management.

Research analyzes how uncertainty influences bank liquidity management and how financial literacy affects retirement planning strategies. Recent work develops text analysis methods to extract managerial sentiment from financial disclosures.

Publications demonstrate consistent innovation in connecting behavioral finance with institutional economics, particularly through analysis of how information shocks propagate through financial systems. Research combines large datasets with natural experiment methodologies.
