Dr Huaiyu Yang is a Senior Lecturer in Biocrystallisation within the Department of Chemical Engineering at Loughborough University. His research spans multiple disciplines including biopharmaceuticals crystallisation, downstream manufacturing, and nanotechnologies.
His educational background includes undergraduate studies at Tianjin University, followed by a PhD and postdoctoral research at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Strathclyde University, and Imperial College London.
Dr Yang's research interests focus on the crystallisation of biopharmaceuticals and small organic molecules, interface phenomena, and phase diagrams. He applies these to advances in sustainable manufacturing and circular economy through his involvement in the Biotechnology and Healthcare and Sustainable Manufacturing and Circular Economy research groups.
He has supervised 5 PhD students and 3 postdoctoral researchers, and has hosted 3 academic visitors. Dr Yang is an active member of the scientific community, serving on the EPSRC ECF Early Career Forum in manufacturing and the EPSRC Peer Review College, and as a Youth Editor for the journals Particuology and Green Chemical Engineering.
