Huacheng Zhang serves as Senior Lecturer in Finance at the University of Edinburgh Business School's Accounting and Finance Division, having joined in August 2023 after previous appointments at Nottingham University Business School (UK) and Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (China).
His academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Arizona (USA), a Master's in Economics from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (USA), and dual degrees (MBA and Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering) from Chongqing University (China).
Dr. Zhang's research centers on empirical asset pricing with emphasis on retail investor behavior, institutional investment patterns, and international market dynamics. His work bridges fundamental finance theory with emerging areas including Fintech applications and ESG integration, particularly examining how investor psychology influences market anomalies and momentum effects.
His publication record features high-impact studies in Management Science, Review of Asset Pricing Studies, and Journal of Banking and Finance, with recent work analyzing retail investor participation in momentum strategies and hedge fund manager adaptability.
