معرفی
Hua Wei is an Assistant Professor at Arizona State University's School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence, part of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. from Penn State University (2017-2020) and leads the Data Mining and Reinforcement Learning Lab (DaRL), mentoring graduate and undergraduate researchers.
His research develops trustworthy AI tools for urban systems optimization, including traffic control, energy management, and emergency response. Core methodologies include reinforcement learning with human-in-the-loop frameworks and uncertainty quantification to bridge simulation-to-reality gaps. Current projects involve real-time traffic optimization in Chandler, Arizona, with demonstrated commute time reductions.
Major Awards:
- NSF CAREER Award 2025 for AI-driven urban decision systems
- Amazon Research Award 2024 for uncertainty quantification in LLMs
- ECML-PKDD 2020 Best Paper Award
He teaches courses including Data Mining (CSE 572) and Foundations of Machine Learning (CSE 475), and develops educational tools like Traffic Commander for STEM outreach.
