Hsiao-Mei Ku is a Professor of the Practice of Music at Duke University. She holds a Master of Music with Distinction from Indiana University (1983), a Performer's Certificate from the School of Music at Indiana University, and a Diploma from the Central School of Music in Beijing, China (1970). Her professional career includes international performances as a soloist and chamber musician, collaborations with the Ciompi Quartet on Sheffield Lab and Albany labels, and acclaimed solo recordings on the Naxos label, including the Music of Violin and Piano of Ma Sicong series (2007–2010).
Dr. Ku’s work highlights Chinese classical music, with her Naxos albums featured in ClassicsOnline. She is affiliated with Duke’s Asian/Pacific Studies Institute and John Hope Franklin Center, contributing to interdisciplinary initiatives in music and cultural studies.
