Hsain Ilahiane is a Professor at the University of Arizona, holding dual appointments in the W.A. Franke Honors College and The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. A Cultural Anthropologist, his research focuses on development, globalization, economic anthropology, and political ecology, with a particular emphasis on Morocco. His recent work examines the transformative impact of mobile phones on Moroccan society, economy, and cultural practices, as detailed in his 2022 book The Mobile Phone Revolution in Morocco: Economic and Cultural Transformations.
Ilahiane’s academic career includes a prior role as Department Head of Anthropology and Middle Eastern Cultures at Mississippi State University.
