Dr. Hossam Kishawy is the Dean of Engineering and a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Ontario Tech University. He leads academic and administrative efforts while maintaining a robust research agenda in advanced manufacturing and sustainable machining technologies. His affiliations include roles as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (FASME) and the Engineering Institute of Canada (FEIC).
Education: He holds a B.Sc. (Production Engineering) from Helwan University (1990), an M.Sc. (Mechanical Engineering) from Tuskegee University (1994), and a Ph.D. (Mechanical Engineering) from McMaster University (1998).
Research Interests: Focus on high-speed machining, finite element modeling, residual stress analysis, and sustainable manufacturing strategies. His work addresses challenges in machining difficult-to-cut materials like titanium alloys and composites, emphasizing environmental and economic efficiency.
Professional Activities: Active member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEng) and senior member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. He contributes to outreach programs promoting STEM education and diversity in engineering through Ontario Tech's initiatives.
Awards: Recognized with the NSERC Discovery Accelerator Supplements, Student Choice Award, and Best Paper Finalist at the International Machining & Grinding Conference.
Teaching: Instructs courses such as Manufacturing Processes, Material Science, and Numerical Control of Machines. His pedagogical focus aligns with industry-relevant technical electives like Principles of Metal Cutting.
