Horst Reuvekamp is a PhD candidate and junior lecturer at the University of Twente's Faculty of Engineering Technology, affiliated with the Mechanics of Solids, Surfaces & Systems (ET-MS3) research group and Skin Tribology (ET-MS3-ST) subgroup.
He earned a Bachelor and Master (Cum Laude) in Industrial Design Engineering from the University of Twente.
Reuvekamp's research centers on surface engineering for medical products, specifically regulating the microclimate—the localized environment between skin and devices involving temperature, humidity, and airflow—to innovate healthcare solutions through the principle that "Preventing is better than curing". His expertise spans Material Science, Surface Engineering, Medical Device design, and Microclimate analysis.
As an educator, he teaches Nature-Inspired Design and Engineering and Statics courses in Industrial Design Engineering programs while serving as project tutor and thesis supervisor, actively pursuing educational innovation.
He operates within the Skin Tribology research team, investigating skin-device interactions for wearable healthcare applications.
