Hoo Sun Chung

Hoo Sun Chung is an Assistant Professor at Ghent University Global Campus, leading a Plant Biotechnology research center. She earned her BSc and MSc in Biology/Chemistry and Plant Molecular Biology at Yonsei University, South Korea, followed by a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Michigan State University, USA, under Prof. Gregg Howe.

Research Focus spans plant signaling mechanisms, particularly Jasmonate signaling and MAPK cascade in plant defense responses. Her work explores molecular pathways enabling plant resilience to environmental stresses.

Scientific Recognition includes the prestigious Hans Kende Award for her PhD dissertation. She investigates plant biotechnology applications to enhance stress tolerance through signaling networks.
