Honorina Martinez Blanco

Honorina Martinez Blanco is a Professor at the University of León, affiliated with the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and the Department of Molecular Biology. Her research focuses on Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, particularly in the context of Celiac Disease, including studies on gluten metabolism, microbiota interactions, and bacterial adhesion.

She earned her Doctorate from the University of León in 1992 with the thesis titled Isolation, purification and characterization of the Phenylacetyl-CoA Ligase Enzyme from Pseudomonas putida, supervised by Dr. José María Luengo Rodríguez.

Honorina leads the research group on Celiac disease: gluten metabolism, microbiota and bacterial adhesion, contributing to biochemical and molecular investigations in this specialized area.
