Honglan Yu is a Lecturer in International Entrepreneurship within the Entrepreneurship, Strategy and International Business (ES&IB) group at Sheffield University Management School. His work focuses on SME internationalization processes, organizational learning dynamics, and the strategic implications of digital technologies. He holds a PhD from the University of Glasgow and an MSc from the University of Edinburgh.
His research explores how SMEs adapt through organizational learning during international expansion, particularly in the context of market exits and recovery. He also investigates the role of digital transformation and sustainability in global business strategies. Recent work addresses topics such as green technology FDI spillovers, African trade policies, and age diversity in corporate social innovation.
Publications span journals like Journal of International Management, Technovation, and Journal of Business Research, reflecting his focus on innovation ecosystems, emerging markets, and strategic management. His articles analyze digital technologies' impact on business strategizing, servitisation sustainability, and crisis-driven resource re-orchestration.
Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as MGT380 (New Venture Creation) and MGT1604 (European Business). He is actively involved in PhD supervision, contributing to the school's Triple Crown-accredited programs.
