Hongdou Fan

Hongdou Fan is a Postdoc (mapped to Researcher) in the Climate Variability department at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology. Her research focuses on the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), reconciling Eulerian and Lagrangian perspectives of oceanic volume transport, and analyzing storm- and eddy-resolving global coupled ICON simulations. She also investigates the impact of greenhouse gas forcing on AMOC through sea surface height fingerprints.

Her work is part of the EPOC project, which aims to advance Earth system modeling and climate predictions. Key subfields of her research include climate-ocean interactions, high-resolution climate simulations, and the dynamics of climate extremes.
