Hong Yue

Dr. Hong Yue is a Reader in the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, Faculty of Engineering. She is affiliated with the Wind Energy and Control Centre and has been a key academic since joining in 2007. Her work bridges control theory and sustainable energy systems, with strong applications in wind energy, robotics, and complex industrial processes.

Research Interests:

• Modelling and control of complex systems (wind energy, biochemical networks, robotics)
• Model Predictive Control (MPC), robust and optimal control
• Sensitivity and uncertainty analysis in biological systems
• Experimental design for model calibration

Her recent publications focus on advanced control strategies for wind energy conversion and autonomous underwater vehicles, showing a consistent trend in applying robust, model-based control to real-world sustainable technologies. Key themes include tube-based MPC, nonlinear dynamics, and optimization under uncertainty.

Dr. Yue has been a principal or co-investigator on multiple externally funded projects, including those from EPSRC and H2020, such as the ELEMENT project on tidal energy and MAXFARM on wind farm optimization. Her teaching includes core and specialized control modules across all academic levels.
