He investigates the interplay between perception, action, and the body, emphasizing empirical findings in cognitive sciences. Wong’s work bridges philosophy and neuroscience, addressing questions about agency, body ownership, and the integration of explanations across disciplines.
Key research themes include the role of the body in cognition, the methodology of studying agency in artificial systems, and the philosophical implications of virtual reality. He has published widely on embodied agency, body cognition, and reductionism in philosophy of mind. Recent contributions include articles on artificial agency (2025), the aesthetics of magic (2023), and schizophrenia-related agency disorders (2023). He has held lectureships at institutions like the University of Hamburg and organized symposiums on topics like Ruth Millikan’s work (2021).
Wong’s awards include the CNCC Essay Award (2008) and the ESF prize for interdisciplinary work on consciousness. His monograph Embodied Agency is forthcoming with Oxford University Press.
