Hong-Ming Liang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History and Politics at The College of St. Scholastica, where he chaired the Faculty Assembly (2012-2013). His research examines Taiwanese identity formation, aboriginal cultures, and political histories of East Asia.
Liang's scholarly framework draws from influential works including Wu Zhuoliu's Orphan of Asia on Taiwanese identity, Pai Hsien-yung's Taipei People examining urban migration, Orwell's political essays, Stafford's poetry collections, and Cummings' experimental literature. Current research includes Anton Treuer's Ojibwe in Minnesota, Josiane Cauquelin's The Aborigines of Taiwan, and Sam Van Schaik's Tibet: A History.
