Homaira Semeen

Dr Homaira Semeen is a Lecturer in Accounting at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), School of Business and Management, and Co-Program Director for BSc Accounting and Management. She joined QMUL in 2021 after completing her PhD and Master of Business Research at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia, where she received an Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship and a thesis nomination for the QUT Outstanding Thesis Award (2019). Previously, she held a full-time academic position at Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh.

Her research focuses on the intersection of accounting and social fairness, emphasizing social sustainability and critical theory. Key interests include management control systems, human rights, and ethical certification auditing. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and has taught courses in accounting and finance at institutions like the University of Queensland and QUT.

Research Group Memberships include the Centre for Research in Equality and Diversity (CRED), Accounting & Accountability Research Group (AARG), and the Centre on Labour and Global Production (CLGP). Recent conference presentations address fair wage practices in Fair Trade supply chains and accounting's role in worker exploitation in compliant clothing factories.
