Holli Witherington serves as the Executive Director of the Brandon Whitten Institute for Addiction & Recovery and as an Instructor in the Department of Professional Programs and Human Services at East Central University (ECU) in Ada, Oklahoma. She also advises the FATE (Fighting Addiction Through Education) Student Organization.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Adult Corrections, East Central University (2004)
- Master of Education in School Counseling, East Central University (2008)
Research and Professional Interests: Holli specializes in substance abuse intervention, addiction recovery systems, and mental health awareness training. Her work integrates evidence-based prevention strategies with community-level substance abuse reduction, focusing on behavioral health counseling, suicide prevention protocols, and bystander intervention frameworks. She holds certifications as a QPR Suicide Intervention Trainer, Mental Health First Aid Trainer, PACT360 Trainer, and Step UP! Bystander Intervention Trainer.
Grants and Leadership: She directs multiple federal and state grants including Pontotoc County Drug Free Communities, Regional Mental Health Awareness Training, and ECU Campus Suicide Prevention. Previously, she chaired the Oklahoma Board of Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors and serves on the Addiction & Behavioral Health Center Board.
Community Engagement: Holli has been an active member of the Pontotoc County Drug Free Coalition since 2011 and has served on Oklahoma Drug Court and Domestic Violence Response teams. She is a past member of the Oklahoma Prevention Policy Alliance, ECU Graduate Rehabilitation Counseling Program Advisory Board, and CIRCAW Community Education Response Team.
