Hiro-O HAMAGUCHI

Prof. Hiro-O Hamaguchi is a Chair Professor at the College of Science, National Ciao Tung University, Taiwan since 2012. Previously, he held positions at the University of Tokyo, including lecturer and professor, and was a Ramsay Postdoctoral Fellow at Cambridge University (PhD in Science, University of Tokyo, 1975). He is renowned for pioneering work in time-resolved vibrational spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy applications in transient species and biomedical fields.

His research focuses on Raman spectroscopy variants (linear/non-linear, time-resolved), applications in photochemistry, material science, and living cell imaging. He has authored over 260 papers, 3 books, and 16 review articles, and contributed to textbook knowledge on t-stilbene isomerization.

Recent activities include a 2013 visiting professorship at the Abbe School of Photonics (Carl-Zeiss Visiting Professor), delivering lectures on Raman spectroscopy theory, time-resolved techniques, and biomedical imaging.

He served on editorial boards for Chemical Physics Letters, Journal of Raman Spectroscopy, and Applied Spectroscopy. Current research extends to super-resolution Raman microscopy and cell dynamics analysis.
