Hind Yahyaoui Azami is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine. She holds a DVM from the Agronomy and Veterinary Institute (IAV) in Morocco and a joint PhD in Epidemiology from IAV and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute-University of Basel. Her research focuses on zoonotic tuberculosis, mycobacterial diseases, and One Health approaches to infectious disease control.
Dr. Azami's work emphasizes the epidemiology of zoonotic pathogens, particularly in low-resource settings. She investigates transmission dynamics of Mycobacterium tuberculosis using animal models and explores strategies to mitigate disease burden in human and livestock populations. Her research integrates molecular biology, microbiology, and veterinary medicine to address global health challenges.
Her publications highlight themes like bovine tuberculosis prevalence in Moroccan livestock, genetic characterization of mycobacterial strains, and economic analyses of disease control. She has contributed to studies on zoonotic TB transmission between Morocco and European countries, emphasizing transboundary health issues.
Dr. Azami's career includes international collaborations on veterinary public health, program development, and knowledge-sharing networks. She has worked across Morocco, Switzerland, and the U.S., advocating for integrated approaches to combat neglected zoonotic diseases.
