Himanshu Gupta is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Stony Brook University, where he also serves as Director of the Center for Quantum Computing and Networking. His research focuses on theoretical and applied aspects of quantum networks, distributed quantum processing, and spectrum management. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University in 1999 and a B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 1992.
Research interests include quantum entanglement distribution, quantum sensor networks, and free-space optical communications. Current projects involve entanglement distribution in quantum networks, distributed quantum computing, and quantum sensor applications. He has advised numerous Ph.D. students and collaborates actively with researchers like C.R. Ramakrishnan and Mark Hillery.
Teaching responsibilities include foundational courses such as CSE 215 (Foundations of Computer Science) and CSE 532 (Theory of Database Systems). His lab, the Wireless Networking and Simulations Lab (WINGS), explores cutting-edge topics in networking and quantum systems. Notably, his work on spectrum allocation and quantum communication protocols has been widely recognized.
