Hillary Parkhouse

Dr. Hillary Parkhouse is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Education. She holds a Ph.D. in Education from UNC Chapel Hill, an M.S. in TESOL from CUNY, and dual B.A./B.S. degrees from the University of Georgia.

Her research centers on critical pedagogy, urban education, youth activism, and social justice teacher preparation. She investigates how teachers develop culturally responsive practices and engage in action research for educational equity. Her work has explored supporting undocumented students and promoting global citizenship education.

Dr. Parkhouse teaches courses on multilingual learner instruction, curriculum development, and professional development design, drawing on her prior experience as a high school social studies and ESL teacher.
