Hilde Hasselgård is a Professor at the Institute for Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies (ILoS) at the University of Oslo, specializing in English linguistics with a focus on corpus-based contrastive studies between English and Norwegian. Her work bridges theoretical linguistics and practical language teaching applications.
Her primary research interests include:
- Modern English grammar
- Text linguistics
- Corpus linguistics methodologies
- Contrastive analysis of English and Norwegian
- Systemic-functional linguistics
- English as a foreign language acquisition
Hasselgård's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on comparative grammatical structures between English and Norwegian, particularly examining adverb placement, verbal constructions, genitive forms, and concessive subordination. Her work frequently employs corpus-based methodologies to analyze both native and learner language production across different registers and contexts.
