Professor Henryk Domański is a leading Polish sociologist affiliated with the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IFiS PAN), where he served as Director from 2000-2012 and currently holds the position of Professor and Head of the Department of Social Structure Research. He also serves as Prorector at Collegium Civitas and has been Chairman of the Statistics Council of the Central Statistical Office since 2017.
Professor Domański's research focuses on social stratification, intergenerational mobility, and class distances, with significant contributions to understanding social structure in Poland during and after the post-communist transformation. His methodological expertise in social research has shaped quantitative approaches in Polish sociology. Recent work has expanded into specialized areas including the sociology of food patterns and music sociology, examining how cultural practices reflect and reinforce social stratification.

Professor Domański has secured substantial research funding from the Polish National Science Center through various grant programs including Maestro and Opus. His international collaborations have been supported by organizations such as the European Science Foundation and the Commission of the European Communities, reflecting his standing in the global sociological community.
He leads the Department of Social Structure Research at IFiS PAN and has headed the Team for Studies on Methods and Techniques of Sociological Research, making significant contributions to methodological advances in Polish sociology through development of occupational classifications and social position indicators.
