Dr. Henry Talus is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and a Colorectal Surgeon at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. He is double board-certified in General and Colorectal Surgery, with specialized training in minimally invasive procedures for colorectal cancer and complex anorectal conditions.
Education and Training:
- Medical School: University of Madras, India (1990)
- General Surgical Residency: Madras Medical College, India and Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, UK
- Surgical Training: Columbia University at Harlem Hospital, New York (2005)
- Colorectal Surgery Fellowship: Cleveland Clinic, Florida (2006)
- Director of Colorectal Surgery at Kings County Hospital Center (2007–present)
Research Interests: Surgical management of rectal cancer (sphincter-preserving procedures), pelvic floor dysfunction (fecal incontinence), inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis), and complex anal fistulas.

Clinical Practice: Dr. Talus specializes in colon and rectal care, including preventive screening (colonoscopy), diagnosis, and treatment of conditions such as hemorrhoids, diverticular diseases, rectal cancer, and pelvic floor disorders.
