Henry Gabriel Jr. is a Professor of Law at Elon University School of Law, where he specializes in domestic and international commercial law. With over three decades of experience, he holds leadership roles in major legal organizations including service as a U.S. Delegate to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (20+ years) and elected member of UNIDROIT's Governing Council in Rome (four terms). He maintains active involvement in uniform law development through the Permanent Editorial Board of the Uniform Commercial Code.
His research focuses on harmonizing commercial law across jurisdictions, with expertise in electronic commerce, contract frameworks, and trade legislation. Key contributions include serving as Reporter for UCC Article 2 (Sales) and Article 2A (Leases), Chair of the UCC Article 7 revision committee, and lead roles in drafting the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act and UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts.
Professor Gabriel has received significant academic recognition including:
