Henriët van Middendorp

Henriët van Middendorp is an Associate Professor of Health Psychology at Leiden University's Health, Medical, and Neuropsychology Unit. Her research focuses on psychoneurobiological factors in health and disease, particularly chronic pain, placebo/nocebo effects, stress mechanisms, and e-health interventions. She combines health psychology with developmental psychology to improve care for young patients with somatic conditions.

• Education: Double Master's in Health Psychology and Developmental Psychology (1999, Utrecht University).
• Research Areas: Psychoneurobiology of chronic pain, skin/kidney diseases; e-health screening; placebo training; stress management in inflammatory conditions.

Grants & Projects: NWO-Vici grant (2017-2021), Dutch Arthritis Foundation projects (2019-2022), ZonMw Medical Inspirator Prize (2019-2021), and Dutch Kidney Foundation initiatives (2017-2021).

• Teaching Roles: Lecturer in Stress, Health, and Disease; coordinator for RM thesis internships and Bachelor theses.
• Committee Roles: Member of Leiden's Ethics Committee Psychology (CEP), Admission Committee Research Master Psychology, and Research Policy Committee.
• Scientific Awards: Multiple recognitions for mentorship and individual contributions, including Young Scholar Awards (2005, 2018) and best thesis awards (2017).
