Henrique Murilo Gaspar

Henrique Murilo Gaspar is a Professor at the Department of Ocean Operations and Civil Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Ålesund, Norway. His academic role is connected to the Ship Design Chair under the Maritime Knowledge Hub sponsored by Ulstein Group (2013-2018). He teaches courses in Systems Engineering, Maritime Operations, and Computer-Aided Engineering, while supervising over 30 MSc candidates and 6 PhD students.

• Coordinates the SEUS - Smart European Shipbuilding EU Horizon project
• Developed the open-source Vessel.JS library for maritime simulations
• Active in digital twin and web-based ship design research

His research spans offshore wind turbine manufacturing, agile shipbuilding, and open-source tools for maritime digitalization. He has led multiple projects including EDIS, NTNU EMIS, and Future Barge with AKVA Group. Gaspar previously served as Deputy Leader for NTNU's PhD Program in Nautical Operations and coordinates the Ship Design and Operations Lab (since 2014) and Fablab NTNU (2016-2018).
