Dr. Henrike Frye is a Research Fellow at the Department of Linguistics, University of Cologne, specializing in General Linguistics. Her work focuses on language documentation, child language acquisition, and ethnobiology within endangered language communities in Papua New Guinea.

Her research spans language documentation, variation in ethnobiological terminology, and corpus-based studies of child-directed speech. Recent projects include community-driven documentation of Simbali/Baining languages and remote fieldwork methodologies.
She has published extensively on Qaqet/Baining languages, emphasizing linguistic diversity, cultural preservation, and typological analysis. Current projects are funded by the Endangered Languages Documentation Programme (ELDP) and the Volkswagen Foundation.
