Dr. Henrika McCoy is the Morris Endowed Dean and Professor at the University of Denver's Graduate School of Social Work. Her research examines structural racism's impact on Black communities, particularly regarding juvenile justice involvement and violence experiences among young Black males.
Education includes:
- Ph.D. in Social Work, Washington University in St. Louis (2008)
- M.J. in Children & Family Law, Loyola University Chicago (2000)
- M.S.W. in Family/Criminal Justice, University of Pennsylvania (1993)
- B.A. in African American Studies/Sociology, Washington University (1991)
Her scholarship explores trauma-informed interventions within justice systems and community-based participatory research methodologies. Recent publications analyze racial disparities in school discipline and suicide prevention strategies.
Major funded projects include co-investigating the NIH/CDC Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study and technical advising for the Arnold Ventures PeaceRox initiative. Licensed clinically since 1995, she maintains active membership in the American Society of Criminology and Society for Social Work Research.
