Henrik Pålsson-Edgren is a Senior Lecturer in the history of education at Uppsala University's Department of Pedagogy, Didactics and Educational Sociology. He also holds associate professor titles in history and educational sociology. Previously, he served as Head of Department (2013-2020) and Director of Studies (2012-2013) at the same department. He earned his PhD in history from Uppsala University in 2005, focusing on political pressure and Swedish national identity post-1809.
His research centers on the history of education, particularly 19th-century primary schools, textbook development, and the interplay between education and national identity. He examines how educational materials shaped societal values during pivotal historical periods across Nordic countries.
Edgren's publications demonstrate a consistent focus on Nordic educational history, with recent works analyzing textbook content evolution, globalization impacts, and secularization trends. His research spans the 16th-21st centuries, emphasizing Scandinavian educational reforms and national narratives.
He has held academic positions at Linnaeus University, the National Defence University (Stockholm), and Stockholm University.
