Professor Henrik Fuchs leads research at the Institute of Energy and Climate Research (IEK-8: Troposphere), Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH, with joint affiliation at the University of Cologne. He specializes in atmospheric radical chemistry and spectroscopic methods.
His research investigates oxidation processes, radical reaction kinetics, and atmospheric composition impacts on air quality and climate. He develops laser-induced fluorescence and cavity ring-down spectroscopy techniques for radical detection.
Professor Fuchs manages SAPHIR, one of Europe's largest atmospheric simulation chambers within the ACTRIS research infrastructure. His work informs air pollution mitigation strategies and climate models.
- ERC Consolidator Grant (2015)
- EGU Outstanding Young Scientist Award
He coordinates international field campaigns and collaborative projects across European research consortia.
