Professor Henriette Hendriks is affiliated with the University of Cambridge, where she lectures and researches in first and second language acquisition, discourse analysis, and linguistic relativity. She is based in the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics within the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics.
- Studied Sinology at Leiden University and holds a PhD in Psycholinguistics (1993) from Leiden, with an HDR from Paris 8 (2003)
- Active in professional organizations Eurosla and IASCL
Her research explores the bidirectional relationship between language and cognition, focusing on person, space, and time across languages. She employs eye-tracking and non-production behavioral tasks to compare child and adult learners. Recent projects include the OWRI MEITS programme on language acquisition in UK educational contexts.
Administrative roles include Vice-Presidency of the College, head of the former Research Centre for English and Applied Linguistics, and Praelector responsibilities for student matriculation and graduation ceremonies.
