معرفی
Henrie van den Boom is an Assistant Professor (Part-time) in the Electrical Engineering department at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), affiliated with the Electro-Optical Communication Systems group within the Institute for Photonic Integration (IPI). His research focuses on polymer optical fibers (POF), including their applications in high-speed communication systems and low-cost sensor technologies such as pressure sensing for healthcare monitoring. He has contributed to over 200 publications and serves as treasurer of the IEEE Photonics Benelux Chapter. His work spans POF-based solutions for in-home networks, wireless communication systems, and medical sensor systems.
Education: MSc in Electrical Engineering from TU/e (1984).
Research Interests: Plastic optical fibers, radio-over-fiber systems, biomedical sensors, optical networking, and cost-effective optical technologies.
Recent Article Trends: Recent work emphasizes robust sensor systems for patient monitoring, high-speed POF transmission (up to 47.4 Gb/s), and integration of LTE-A and Wi-Fi over POF for in-home networks. Collaborations include sleep medicine centers for clinical sensor applications.
Labs and Teams: Active in the Electro-Optical Communication Systems group at TU/e's Institute for Photonic Integration, focusing on photonic integration and novel optical sensor designs.
