Henri Jansen is a Professor at the National Centre for Nano Fabrication and Characterization (Nanolab) within the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), specializing in advanced nanofabrication and plasma physics. His work spans 3D nanodevices, nanoperforated membranes, and space sensor applications, with significant contributions to clean water technology and energy harvesting systems.
His academic credentials include:
- PhD in Physics, University of Twente (1992-1996)
Research focuses on plasma etching mechanisms, nanoperforated membrane design, and black silicon applications for solar conversion and super-hydrophobicity. Current projects integrate MEMS fabrication with sustainability goals, particularly in water purification and energy systems, while maintaining expertise in microfluidics and RF MEMS developed through earlier radar and sonar research.
Recent publications (2022-2025) reveal strong emphasis on plasma-based nanofabrication for optical components and separation membranes, with increasing focus on sustainable applications. Key trends include precise profile control in etching processes, advanced carbon microelectrode manufacturing, and photonic topological insulator development.
As primary supervisor for five active PhD projects, Jansen mentors research on nanonozzle fabrication, capacitive power interposers, etch process development for LiDAR gratings, mass spectrometry microchips, and carbon-based energy systems. His DTU Nanolab facility provides comprehensive nano-characterization capabilities supporting these interdisciplinary efforts in sustainable technology development.
