Henri Brice AFANE is a Lecturer and researcher at the University of Ngaoundéré, Cameroon. He holds a PhD in political sociology and directs the 'Cameroonian Studies' collection. His work critically examines bureaucratic systems in post-colonial contexts, particularly focusing on consular regulation and its role in perpetuating neocolonial dynamics in French-speaking Africa. His 2017 book, Consular Regulation in French-speaking Africa, analyzes how public administration functions as a conduit for foreign capital interests, drawing parallels to colonial-era administrative practices.
Research interests include post-colonial governance structures, the socio-political implications of bureaucracy, and the interplay between local and external economic forces in Cameroon and broader Francophone Africa. AFANE’s work bridges historical and contemporary analyses of institutional power, emphasizing the persistent influence of colonial frameworks on modern administrative systems.
