Henner Gimpel

Prof. Henner Gimpel is Chair of Digital Management at the University of Hohenheim, serving as Vice Dean for Research and Knowledge Transfer in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences. He leads the Digital Business Management program and directs the Fraunhofer FIT's Business & Information Systems Engineering and FIM Research Center for Information Management. His research focuses on socio-technical systems, digitization strategies, and digital ethics, with emphasis on healthcare, finance, and high-tech sectors. He employs quantitative studies and design science to explore topics like hybrid intelligence, sustainable digitization, and IT adoption.

Education: Industrial Engineering and Management from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), followed by a doctorate in Business Administration with distinction. Previously held a professorship at the University of Augsburg (2014–2020). Gained international experience at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center and the Center for Interuniversity Research in Montreal.

Research interests include digital health, AI ethics, and stress mitigation in digital work. He advises firms like BMW, Siemens, and Allianz on digital transformation. Teaching spans digital management, information systems, and sustainable practices at Hohenheim and executive programs like the Goethe Business School.

Key awards include the Friedrich von Klinggräff Medal and Walter-Georg-Waffenschmidt Prize. Over 150 publications in journals like JMIS, JAIS, and ISR. Editor of Electronic Markets and active in professional bodies such as AIS and GI.

Labs/Initiatives: Leads the FIM Research Center and collaborates with hospitals like Universitätsklinikum Erlangen on digital palliative care systems. Developed frameworks for stress-sensitive enterprise systems and digital workplace prevention strategies.
