Henna Asikainen is a Senior Lecturer in University Pedagogy and a Docent at the University of Helsinki, affiliated with the Department of Education within the Faculty of Educational Sciences. She serves as a Research Director in the WELLS project, focusing on promoting student well-being and lifelong learning. Her work includes leading the WELLS R2B project, aiming to develop well-being interventions for educational institutions and companies. She holds a Docent title in University Pedagogy (2018).
Her research emphasizes the intersection of learning and well-being, with a focus on designing and evaluating interventions to support students' psychological flexibility and study skills. Key projects include the WELLS initiative and the SASE project exploring stress as a strength in education. She is also involved in the Mass Online Course in University Pedagogy and the Digital Self-Assessment (DISA) project.
Dr. Asikainen has supervised several doctoral students, including Antero Salmsen, Ella Kämper, and Veera Lampinen. She is recognized for her impactful work, including the 'Most read article' award in 2022. Her contributions extend to academic leadership through roles in the Centre for University Teaching and Learning (HYPE), where she manages research infrastructure and collaborates internationally.
Her research spans topics such as burnout prevention, ACT-based interventions, and learning profiles. She actively participates in peer reviews, conferences, and editorial roles, contributing to both theoretical and applied educational psychology.
