Hendrick de Haan

Hendrick de Haan is an Assistant Professor of Physics at the Faculty of Science, Ontario Tech University. He leads the cNab.Lab, focusing on computational biophysics and nanotechnology applications. His work integrates atomistic and coarse-grained simulations to study biological systems and materials. Contact: Science Building Room 2023, North Oshawa, Ontario.

Education: PhD in Physics from the University of Guelph (2007). Postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Ottawa, where he investigated DNA-nanopore interactions and MRI contrast agents. Joined Ontario Tech in 2013.

Research emphasizes modeling biological molecules, nanotechnology applications, and systems across time/length scales. Current projects include protein-drug design, DNA nanoconfinement, carbohydrate-based drug delivery, bacterial motion analysis, and red blood cell stacking as disease indicators.

Teaches courses like Physics I, Mathematical Physics, and Computational Polymer Physics. Active in developing simulation methodologies for biophysical systems.
