Professor Helmut J. Schneider holds the Max Kade Endowed Chair in German Studies, specializing in 18th-20th century European literature. His research explores pastoral traditions, utopian landscapes, and body representations in classical texts.
Author of works on Lessing, Kleist, and Goethe, he has held visiting positions at Stanford, Harvard, and Georgetown. Current projects investigate dramaturgical expressions of humanity from Enlightenment to modern periods.
