Dr. Helma de Vries-Jordan is an Associate Professor of Political Science and Director of the History and Political Science Program at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. She holds a Ph.D. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland (2007), specializing in Comparative Politics and Methodology. Her research focuses on transnational social movements, particularly LGBTQ+ activism and marriage equality in advanced democracies, alongside global justice and anti-war movements. She has conducted fieldwork across Europe and the U.S., and her work has been published in Global Discourse and the Oxford Handbook of Comparative Politics.

Program Chair of the LGBT Caucus of the American Political Science Association (2014-2015). Active in organizing campus events on human rights, genocide awareness, and LGBTQ+ issues. Speaker at national and international conferences on protest movements and political activism.
