Helma Kaptein

Dr. Helma Kaptein MBA serves as Professor of Implementation of Health Care Technology at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences' Research Centre Innovations in Care since July 2021, while also directing Science2Change. Her career spans international academic and industry roles including Technology Transfer at the University of the West of England and project leadership at Syngenta.

Her research focuses on optimizing healthcare technology deployment through three interconnected pillars:

• Technology Selection: Identifying solutions for real-world practice questions from hospitals and care settings
• Implementation Strategy: Ensuring success through regulatory compliance (MDR/IVDR), change management, and health technology assessment
• Impact Measurement: Evaluating economic and social outcomes across stakeholder perspectives

Prof. Kaptein actively collaborates with students, educators, and practitioners to develop practical implementation tools, connecting care, technology, and business domains to maximize societal and economic benefits of healthcare innovations.
