Helga Scheibert is a faculty member at Carnegie Mellon Preparatory School, teaching piano, and also instructs at Hope Academy and Seton Center School of Music. She serves as Music Director at First United Methodist Church in Bridgeville and Washington PA. Her professional roles include piano performance, composition, and accompaniment for voice and other instruments.
Education: B.M. in Piano Performance (Gheorge Dima Music Academy, Transylvania), Artist Diploma and M.M. from Duquesne University (studying under David Allen Wehr), and a Ph.D. in Piano Performance from West Virginia University (studying under Peter Amstutz, with a dissertation on Hungarian folk piano music).
Research interests focus on Hungarian folk piano music and its performance, alongside pedagogy and interdisciplinary musical practices. Her career highlights include solo and chamber recitals across the U.S. and Europe, broadcasts on Romanian National Radio, and competitive accolades including the Pittsburgh Concert Society Competition win.
Awards include full scholarships to Gheorge Dima Academy and recognition in major performance competitions. She actively engages in teaching piano at multiple institutions and collaborates in diverse musical projects.
