Helga G Tawil-Souri is an Associate Professor in the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University’s College of Arts & Science. She holds a Ph.D. in Communications from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and teaches courses on borders, Middle Eastern media, surveillance, and urban studies. Her research focuses on technology, media, and territorial politics in Palestine/Israel, with emphasis on infrastructure, digital surveillance, and non-human mobilities.
Her work bridges academia and art, including collage projects like *Digital Occupation* (2023) and *Gaza Beach Hut* (2023). She serves on editorial boards for *Social Text* and *Public Culture* and has published widely on Palestinian media infrastructures, checkpoints, and geopolitical borders. Recent publications include *Producing Palestine* (2024) and articles in *Environment and Planning D* and *Geografiska Annaler*.
Teaching spans undergraduate and graduate levels, including courses like *Middle Eastern Cities* (core curriculum) and *Human/Non-Human Ecologies*. Her research explores intersections between technology, space, and colonial power, often using visual and experimental methodologies.
