Helena Luísa de Matos Soares is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance at ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon (IBS). She has held this position since at least 2019, teaching courses including Financial Calculation, Financial Analysis and Investments, and Financial Modeling. Her academic background includes postgraduate studies in Finance from Complutense University and Autonomous University of Madrid (2010), an MBA in Finance from Catholic University of Portugal (1998), and a bachelor's in Business Organization and Management from ISCTE-IUL (1991).
Research Focus: Her work concentrates on core finance disciplines including corporate financial management, investment analysis, financial modeling, and practical applications of financial theory. This is evidenced by her extensive textbook publications introducing fundamental finance concepts.
Professional Experience: Before her academic career, she worked as an Investment Portfolio Manager at various banks (1991-2001) and currently assists foreign investors with business establishment in Portugal (since 2018). She has been a member of the Order of Economists since 1993.
Student Advising: She has supervised three Master's students on topics including financial ethics, banking sector capital structure, and equity fund performance analysis.
