Dr Helen V. Pritchard is Associate Professor in Queer Feminist Technoscience and Digital Design at the University of Plymouth’s School of Art, Design and Architecture, and programme lead for MRes Digital Art and Technology. She also co-directs the i-DAT research group and co-organises the Institute for Technology in the Public Interest (TITiPi).
Education:

Research Interests: Helen’s work interrogates how computation impacts social and environmental justice, shaping who gets to live and how. Through queer feminist and participatory methods she co-develops propositions and tools that uphold queer survival politics and environmental practice. Her projects span multispecies storytelling, citizen sensing, software art and technologies of subsurface rendering.
Current funded research includes “Infrastructural Interactions” (EPSRC), “Technology in the Public Interest” (Quintin Hogg Trust), “Multispecies Methods for Solidarity Stories” (Linnaeus University) and “Bionic Natures” (Oslo School of Environmental Humanities).

Advising & Collaboration: Helen supervises three PhD students exploring queer maximalism, post-identity phenomenology and sustainable design education. She collaborates closely with Winnie Soon on software art, and with Femke Snelting and Jara Rocha in the action-research collective “The Underground Division”.
Labs & Teams: She is embedded in i-DAT (Institute for Digital Art and Technology), TITiPi (Institute for Technology in the Public Interest) and the “Citizen Sense” group, all fostering interdisciplinary, feminist and queer approaches to technology and environmental practice.
