Helen Mason

Dr. Helen Mason is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Course in Professional Psychology at CQUniversity, within the School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences. She holds a PhD in Computational Cognitive Neuroscience from James Cook University, with a focus on psycholinguistics and decision-making. Her research spans cognitive neuroscience, decision science, and clinical psychology, with a focus on neurodiversity, trauma, and applied psychology. Dr. Mason is a registered General Psychologist and Board Approved Supervisor with AHPRA, and a member of APS and ACNS.

She has extensive experience in teaching, including units like Psychopathology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Research Evaluation. Current supervision focuses on a PhD exploring neural oscillations and habit automaticity. Her work with AISRAP addresses suicide risk assessment tools, and her research includes Bayesian models of language production and decision-making processes.

Dr. Mason is actively involved in curriculum coordination and has led units such as Professional Practice in Psychology and Research Methods. Her teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate levels, emphasizing evidence-based practice and clinical competency.
