Helen Maniates is Associate Professor and Program Coordinator in Teacher Education at the University of San Francisco's School of Education. She holds a PhD from UC Berkeley (2010) and researches literacy development, reading instruction methods, and equitable teaching strategies for urban elementary schools. Her community-engaged scholarship includes summer reading programs addressing learning loss.
Her publications examine teacher adaptations to standardized curricula, leadership in early education, and bilingual instructional approaches. Recent works analyze social justice dimensions in educational systems and pedagogical responses to transitional kindergarten programs.
