Helen Lee is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Director of the Guaranteed Professional Program Admissions for Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. She is a clinician scientist focusing on disparities in medicine-dentistry intersections and social determinants of oral health.
- Education: MD from University of North Dakota School of Medicine; Residency at University of Chicago; Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins
- Board-certified in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology
Research Areas: Dr. Lee investigates systemic safety outcomes in pediatric dental anesthesia, Medicaid policy effects on healthcare access, and community/household-level social determinants of oral health. Her NIH-funded work develops parental intervention strategies to improve child oral health behaviors post-surgery.
Additional Roles: Member of the Research Committee at the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia. Presented her innovative oral health promotion research at a 2024 National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine workshop.
