Helen Carr is a Principal Lecturer in Practice Learning at Canterbury Christ Church University, collaborating with NHS Trusts to develop placement capacity and enhance practice learning quality. She serves as Project Lead for the HEE-funded Schwartz Rounds initiative and co-founded the Bridging the Gap to Leadership project addressing racial inequalities in healthcare education.
Her research centers on transformative practice learning models, with expertise in migration and health, forced migration, and anti-racist pedagogy developed through frontline social care work in children's homes and refugee sectors. She emphasizes student partnership in leadership development to combat systemic inequalities in clinical education.
Helen Carr has received significant recognition for her innovative work:
