Helen Cahalane

Helen Cahalane is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, where she teaches in the direct practice concentration of the MSW program. She serves as Principal Investigator for the Child Welfare Education and Research Programs, overseeing federal IV-E professional education components and workforce development initiatives in public child welfare.

Her research focuses on workforce development, organizational climate, evidence-based practice, and mental health issues in child welfare. She has pioneered the integration of mobile technology into child welfare practices and advanced Family Group Decision Making strategies.

Recent publications highlight trends in rural child welfare, developmental screening, and professionalism in digital tool adoption. She explores systemic barriers to mental health care and fidelity to intervention models across demographics.
